How healthy you are depends on where you live

The Bay Area New Group and the Contra Costa Times have published a provocative series of stories showing the connection between health and place: how healthy you are depends largely upon where you live. The series uses a groundbreaking database from the Alameda County Department of Public Health to document disparities in life expectancies among people who live in different zipcodes in the region. Residents of the community of Sobrante Park, for example, live on average 16 years less than people 12 miles away in Walnut Creek. You can find the first part of the series here.
